THE MAYOR OF SAINT VLAS INVITES THE GUESTS OF GIRO D’ITALIA TO INCLUDE THE RESORT TOWN IN THEIR TRAVEL PLANS AND STAY

Sveti Vlas welcomes the month of May with a strong sense of excitement and expectation.
On May 2, the town will officially open its summer tourist season — an event that also serves as the resort’s holiday celebration. Just six days later, on May 8, the first stage of the Giro d'Italia cycling tour will start from Nesebar.

The Mayor of Sveti Vlas, Ivan Nikolov, has invited all guests, tourists, and cycling fans arriving in the Nesebar region for Giro d'Italia to include Sveti Vlas in their travel plans and stay.

Although the race route will not pass through Sveti Vlas, strong visitor interest is expected due to the resort’s proximity to the start — only about 10 kilometers away.

“We invite all tourists and cycling enthusiasts visiting the Nesebar region for Giro d’Italia to discover Sveti Vlas as well. Our hotels, restaurants, and venues are ready to welcome them warmly,” said Mayor Ivan Nikolov.

The resort offers convenient transport connections to Nesebar.

“There have already been inquiries from tourists to hotels and accommodation facilities in the resort, which confirms the positive expectations of local businesses during the days surrounding the start of the race,” Nikolov added.

Sveti Vlas and Italy share a special connection. In the Alley of Nations at the resort’s yacht marina stands a bas-relief of the Italian national hero Giuseppe Garibaldi, unveiled by the Italian Ambassador to Bulgaria, Giuseppina Zarra. This symbolic closeness between the two countries makes the upcoming hosting of Giro d'Italia even more special for the resort.

Sveti Vlas is no stranger to hosting international sporting events, the mayor added.

Every year, the resort welcomes athletes and tourists attracted by its rich sports calendar. The international yacht regatta Cor Caroli has been held since 2001 and is Bulgaria’s most prestigious keel yacht competition, attracting crews from Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, France, Italy, and Germany. Since 2022, the resort has hosted the international beach volleyball tournament Sveti Vlas Futures, and in 2024 the event became part of the world circuit Beach Pro Tour under the auspices of Volleyball World. These events are joined by the annual Premium Rally Sofia – Sveti Vlas, whose final stage traditionally gathers motorsport enthusiasts from across the country.

It is this well-established tradition of organizing and hosting international sporting events that makes the resort confident in welcoming the expected tourist flow.
